This Sex Columnist’s Beauty Routine Will Make You Better at Flirting

Writer, documentary-maker, and sex columnist Karley Sciortino’s beauty look is far from dolled-up, caked-on, or high-maintenance. Instead, it’s low-key girl next door with a hint of bombshell allure. “Overall, I would say my beauty-makeup philosophy is to have fun and enhance your features without looking like a drag queen,” says Sciortino. “Unless you are a drag queen and then it’s chill.”

For her own subtle metamorphosis, Sciortino preps her canvas with a La Mer cream that she spreads beyond her chin (“Moisturize your neck!” she advises). Next comes “whatever-it’s-called” concealer for under the eyes. “It reflects the light so you don’t have bags,” she explains, invoking her knowing audience: “We are working women who don’t have enough sleep.”

Ready for wherever the night takes her, Sciortino minimizes her baggage by using lipstick as blush—a tip she learned from her mother. “It’s one less thing you have to carry.” Of course, a bottomless tote can be dangerous territory for beauty products—as exemplified by the now “exploded” bronzer she uses for contouring, softly brushing it along the hollows of her cheeks with the skill of someone who has watched “45,000 Kim Kardashian tutorials.” Her easygoing aesthetic is best embodied by the drugstore liquid eyeliner from Wet n Wild that she favors to create a tiny wing at the corner of her eye lid. “It’s the best eyeliner in the world.”

Needless to say any professional expertise Sciortino has picked up in the field only amplifies her good looks. The writer layers on mascara—a trick gleaned from a porn star who promised that it “makes you better at flirting.” But the most unorthodox touch is the Überlube she massages into her hair for the ultimate tousled bedhead look. The trick here is a light touch and attitude—not to mention that the product is “silicone-based,” says Sciortino. “Important.”Read more at:prom dress shops uk | formal dresses
